Our Weekend Backpack Program is facilitated at the United Way of Caldwell County office and
serves several schools in our county. The program is designed to help children who may not have
enough food on the weekends and holidays. This year, our program will give over 4,000 meals to
food-insecure Caldwell County school children in need. For more information or if you would like
to help, please call 828.758.9300.

Looking to donate plastic bags? We go through hundreds of plastic bags weekly and are always accepting donations. Please double bag your standard grocery bags them before dropping them off to our office.
Our program serves as a vital resource center supporting Caldwell County public education,
providing teachers with essential supplies and resources at no cost. Generous donations
from the community and our School Tools partners continuously replenish our shelves,
ensuring teachers and students have the necessary tools for success in the classroom.
Our mission is to guarantee that every child and classroom in Caldwell County is equipped for
learning, achieved through the transfer of community-donated supplies to teachers serving children in need. With contributions from individuals and businesses, our shelves remain
stocked with everything from crayons and markers to backpacks and binders. Dedicated community volunteers play a crucial role in stocking shelves, managing inventory, and ensuring the resource center operates smoothly each shopping day.

From August 2023 to March 2024 alone, we have distributed over 20,000 school and classroom supplies to teachers in Caldwell County Schools, furthering our commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for all students.
Are you a teacher who is retiring or leaving the classroom? Please see our Donation Guidelines here before dropping off your donations to make sure your items are eligible.
